DESCRIPTION
· The Marvell Alaska 88E3082 and 88E3083 are third-generation 8-port 10/100BASE-T Fast Ethernet transceivers with DSP technology.
· They feature the industry's lowest power consumption at 150mW per port, enabling higher port density and cost-effective switches.
· These devices integrate advanced features like Marvell’s Virtual Cable Tester (VCT) technology for remote cable diagnostics and support for very low power modes.
· They include all active circuitry for data conversion between eight Media Access Controllers (MACs) and the physical media.
· Both devices support IEEE 802.3u Auto-Negotiation for 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T networks over twisted-pair cable in full or half-duplex mode.
FEATURES
· The 88E3082 supports RMII, SMII, and SSSMII interfaces to reduce I/O pins between MAC and PHY, facilitating robust, high-density switch designs.
· The 88E3083 supports SMII and SSSMII interfaces.
· The 88E3082 includes a PECL interface selectable per port for IEEE-compliant 100BASE-FX fiber-optic networks.
· The 88E3083 supports 100BASE-FX fiber on a single port.
