DESCRIPTION
· The AS8506C is a battery management IC designed for Li-Ion battery stacks in industrial, consumer, and PV applications.
· It supports cell voltage measurement, monitoring, balancing, and temperature measurement.
· Operates in an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
· Suitable for battery stacks up to 7 cells with a voltage range of 6V to 32V.
· Can be chained to support larger battery packs in synchronized mode.
FEATURES
· 12-bit SAR ADC for fast cell voltage capture.
· Passive cell balancing with integrated switches and external resistors.
· Active balancing option (AS8506C A) with external DC-DC Flyback converter.
· Temperature measurement via two external NTC sensors using 12-bit ADC.
· Adjustable upper and lower cell voltage limits for diagnostics.
· Communication of battery stack status through OR’d voltage_ok and balance ready signals.
