Overview

DESCRIPTION



· The ATA6871 is a battery cell monitoring circuit designed for Li-ion battery systems in electric and hybrid electric vehicles (EV/HEV).

· It functions as an emergency, safety, or backup circuit, monitoring overvoltage, undervoltage, and cell temperature without requiring a microcontroller.

· The circuit includes advanced self-test functionality to ensure the proper operation of monitoring comparators and communication lines.

· It can monitor four, five, or six battery cells, with up to 16 ICs cascadable.

· A digital output signal is set to high if over/undervoltage thresholds or temperature limits are exceeded for more than 2 seconds.

· Hot plug-in capable with less than 10 µA standby current.

· Low cell imbalance current (< 10 µA).

· Daisy-chainable with each IC monitoring 6 battery cells, 16 ICs (96 cells) per string, and no limit on the number of strings.

· Reliable communication between stacked ICs due to level shifters with current sources.
