DESCRIPTION
· The HMC5883L is a 3-axis digital compass IC designed for low-field magnetic sensing with a digital interface.
· It features high-resolution magneto-resistive sensors and an ASIC for amplification, degaussing, offset cancellation, and 12-bit ADC.
· The IC provides 1° to 2° compass heading accuracy and is housed in a 3.0x3.0x0.9mm LCC package.
FEATURES
· 3-axis magnetoresistive sensors with 12-bit ADC achieve 2 milli-gauss field resolution.
· Built-in self-test, low voltage operation (2.16 to 3.6V), and low power consumption (100 μA).
· I2C digital interface, lead-free package, and wide magnetic field range (±8 Oe).
· Supports compass heading, hard iron, soft iron, and auto-calibration libraries with a maximum output rate of 160 Hz.
APPLICATIONS
· Mobile phones, netbooks, consumer electronics, auto navigation systems, and personal navigation devices.
