DESCRIPTION



· The LTC1290 is a 12-bit data acquisition system with an 8-channel sampling capability.

· It features a serial I/O successive approximation A/D converter using LTCMOS switched capacitor technology.

· The device supports both unipolar and bipolar A/D conversions, configurable for single-ended or differential inputs.

· Includes an on-chip sample-and-hold for single-ended input channels and can be powered down when idle to save power.

· The serial I/O is compatible with standard full duplex serial interfaces, supporting MSB- or LSB-first data and 2's complement output coding.

· Output data word length is programmable to 8, 12, or 16 bits for easy interface with various processors.



FEATURES



· Software programmable features include unipolar/bipolar conversion, four differential/eight single-ended inputs, MSB- or LSB-first data sequence, variable data word length, and power shutdown.

· Built-in sample-and-hold, operates on a single supply of 5V or ±5V.

· Direct four-wire interface to most MPU serial ports and all MPU parallel ports.

· Maximum throughput rate of 50kHz, fast conversion time of 13 µs max over temperature.

· Low supply current of 6.0mA, available in 20-Lead PDIP and SO wide packages.
