Overview

DESCRIPTION

· The M74HC40103 is a high-speed CMOS 8-stage presettable synchronous down counter, utilizing silicon gate C2MOS technology.
· It features an 8-stage synchronous down counter with a single output active when the internal count is zero.
· Includes control inputs for clock enable/disable, counter clear, and synchronous/asynchronous preset.
· All control inputs and the CARRY-OUT/ZERO DETECT output are active low.
· The counter decrements on each positive clock transition, with counting inhibited when the CARRY-IN/COUNTER ENABLE input is high.
· The CARRY-OUT/ZERO-DETECT output goes low when the count reaches zero, remaining low for one full clock period.
· Supports synchronous and asynchronous preset operations, with J inputs representing an 8-bit binary word.
· The counter is asynchronously cleared to its maximum count when the CLEAR input is low.



FEATURES

· High speed operation with a maximum frequency of 38MHz at 6V.
· Low power dissipation with a maximum current of 4µA at 25°C.
· High noise immunity with VNIH and VNIL at 28% of VCC (minimum).
· Symmetrical output impedance with |IOH| and IOL at 4mA (minimum).
· Balanced propagation delays with tPLH approximately equal to tPHL.
· Wide operating voltage range from 2V to 6V.
· Pin and function compatible with the 74 series 40103.
