Functional Description

The PCF8583T contains a 256-byte by 8-bit RAM with an 8-bit auto-increment address register. The first 16 bytes of the RAM are used for clock, calendar, and counter functions. The remaining 240 bytes are available for general-purpose RAM storage.

Counter Function Modes

  • 32.768 kHz Clock Mode: Stores time in BCD format.
  • 50 Hz Clock Mode: Suitable for applications requiring a 50 Hz reference.
  • Event-Counter Mode: Counts external pulses applied to the oscillator input.

Alarm Function Modes

  • Dated Alarm: Triggers on a specific date.
  • Daily Alarm: Triggers daily at a set time.
  • Weekday Alarm: Triggers on specific weekdays.
  • Timer Alarm: Triggers after a set interval.
