DESCRIPTION

· The Z85233 EMSCC is a CMOS-based, full-duplex data communications controller, compatible with Zilog's SCC and ESCC designs.
· It features a single channel (Channel A) and is built using Zilog's Superintegration™ Technology.
· The controller supports a wide range of protocols and includes enhancements that reduce CPU overhead and simplify SDLC driver software.

FEATURES

· Includes a 4-byte transmit FIFO and an 8-byte receive FIFO to reduce data handling overhead.
· Automates key SDLC mode operations such as flag transmission, Tx Underrun/EOM latch reset, and /RTS pin deassertion.
· Improved I/O handling with faster response times for /INT and /DTR//REQ pins.
· Simplified CPU hardware interface with relaxed databus setup time and software-generated interrupt acknowledge signal (/INTACK).
