DESCRIPTION

· The ZMX40M is a tangential field difference sensor with two AMR bridges for field movement or comparative measurements.

· It contains two sensitive magnetic sensor chips in an SM8 package, utilizing thin-film permalloy's magneto-resistive effect.

· Each sensor has a Wheatstone bridge with output voltage proportional to the magnetic field component Hy.

· An internal permanent magnet provides the necessary Hx field to suppress hysteresis and bias sensors into the linear region.

· The chips are 3mm apart, allowing precise detection of magnetic parts or fields.

FEATURES

· Output voltage proportional to magnetic field Hy across each chip.

· Both chips are oriented similarly, with centers 3mm apart in the Y direction.

· Magnetic fields vertical to the chip level (Hz) are ineffective.

· Tolerates disturbing fields Hx up to 30 kA/m.

· Extremely small chip distance from the package top for accurate measurements.

· Internal magnet creates auxiliary field Hx for each chip.

APPLICATIONS

· Linear position measurement for process control, door interlocks, proximity detectors, and precision machine tools.

· H-field movement measurement for magnetic tape recognition.

· High voltage isolated current measurement using a suitable current loop over or under the IC.

· Detection of rotating magnets in the presence of disturbing fields by comparing maximum values of individual sensors.
