DESCRIPTION

· The 74HC161 is a synchronous presettable 4-bit binary counter with an internal look-ahead carry.

· It operates on the positive edge of the clock (CP) and allows outputs (Q0 to Q3) to be preset HIGH or LOW.

· The parallel enable input (PE) disables counting and loads data inputs (D0 to D3) on the clock's positive edge.

· The master reset input (MR) asynchronously clears all outputs (Q0 to Q3) to LOW.

· The look-ahead carry feature simplifies serial cascading of counters.

· Both count enable inputs (CEP and CET) must be HIGH for counting, with CET enabling the terminal count output (TC).
