Overview

DESCRIPTION

· The AD736 is a low power, precision, monolithic true RMS-to-DC converter, laser-trimmed for high accuracy.

· It can compute the RMS value of both AC and DC input voltages and operates with a wide range of input waveforms.

· The device features a high input impedance and low input bias current, suitable for interfacing with high-Z input attenuators.

· It is available in four performance grades and three low-cost, 8-lead packages: PDIP, SOIC, and CERDIP.



FEATURES

· Converts AC voltage to DC and then to true RMS, average rectified, or absolute value with a 200 mV RMS full-scale input range.

· High input impedance of 1012 Ω and low input bias current of 25 pA maximum.

· High accuracy: ±0.3 mV ± 0.3% of reading, with RMS conversion for signal crest factors up to 5.

· Wide power supply range from +2.8 V, -3.2 V to ±16.5 V with low power consumption of 200 µA maximum.

· Buffered voltage output and no external trims needed for specified accuracy.



APPLICATIONS

· Suitable for upgrading the performance of non-RMS precision rectifiers in various applications.

· Ideal for portable multimeters and other battery-powered applications due to its low power consumption.

· Can be used in applications requiring high accuracy for input waveforms with crest factors from 1 to 3, and up to 5 with minimal additional error.

· Effective in environments with varying temperatures or supply voltages, capable of resolving input signal levels of 100 µV RMS or less.
