Overview

DESCRIPTION

· The EMC2101 is an SMBus 2.0 compliant fan control solution with two temperature monitors (one external and one internal).
· It features programmable high limits for each temperature channel that can trigger an interrupt.
· The fan drive can be selected as either PWM or Linear (DAC) output.
· An eight-position look-up table allows customizable fan speed profiles based on temperature.
· The DAC output ranges from 0V to VDD with 6-bit resolution, and the PWM output ranges from 0% to 100% with 64 steps.
· It supports auto-programming via an SMBus-compatible EEPROM upon power-up.
· Advanced thermal sensing reduces validation time and ensures accurate operation with smaller-geometry processors.
· Resistance Error Correction (REC) compensates for board trace and device resistance up to 100 Ω.
· Automatic Beta Compensation supports applications with processor substrate transistors.
