DESCRIPTION

· The MAX13487E/MAX13488E are +5V, half-duplex, ±15kV ESD-protected RS-485-compatible transceivers with one driver and one receiver.

· They feature hot-swap capability to prevent false transitions during power-up or live insertion.

· These devices include Maxim’s proprietary AutoDirection control, ideal for isolated RS-485 ports.

· The MAX13487E has reduced slew-rate drivers for error-free transmission up to 500kbps, while the MAX13488E supports speeds up to 16Mbps.

· Both devices allow up to 128 transceivers on the bus with a 1/4-unit load receiver input impedance.

· They operate over the extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and are available in an 8-pin SO package.
