DESCRIPTION

· The MAX77985/MAX77986 is a high-performance, high-input range 3.5/5.5A fast charger with Smart Power SelectorTM.

· It supports reverse boost operation without an additional inductor, enabling battery power sharing through the charging port with programmable voltage from 5V to 12V.

· The IC is compatible with USB Power Delivery sources and supports Li-ion, Li-polymer, and LiFePO4 battery chemistries.

· It features fully integrated low-loss power switches for high efficiency and compact size, even at high input voltage and charging current.

FEATURES

· High-efficiency single-cell switching charger with up to 5.5A charging (MAX77986) and 3.5A charging (MAX77985).

· 92% buck efficiency at 4A, 12V input and 92% charging efficiency at 3.5A, 9V input.

· Integrated battery true-disconnect FET with RDSON = 7.7mΩ and programmable discharge current limit up to 10A.

· Safety features include battery temperature sensing, charge safety timer, JEITA guideline compliance, thermal regulation, and thermal shutdown.

· Spread spectrum for noise-sensitive applications and programmable unplug detection for 9V and 15V sources.
