Overview

DESCRIPTION



· The MC33771B is a SMARTMOS lithium-ion battery cell controller IC designed for automotive and industrial applications.

· It performs ADC conversions of differential cell voltages and current, along with battery coulomb counting and temperature measurements.

· Data is transmitted digitally via SPI or Transformer Isolation (TPL) to a microcontroller for processing.



FEATURES



· Operates within a voltage range of 9.6 V to 63 V, with a transient capability of up to 75 V.

· Manages 7 to 14 cells with a maximum total voltage measurement error of 0.8 mV.

· Supports isolated differential communication at 2.0 Mbps or SPI at 4.0 Mbps.

· Features synchronized cell voltage/current measurement and coulomb counting.

· Includes seven GPIO/temperature sensor inputs and a 5.0 V reference supply output.

· Offers automatic over/undervoltage and temperature detection, with integrated sleep mode monitoring.

· Equipped with onboard 300 mA passive cell balancing and diagnostics.

· Capable of hot plug operation and detects internal and external faults.

· Designed to support ISO 26262, up to ASIL D safety system, and is AEC–Q100 qualified.

· Suitable for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV).

· Applicable in energy storage systems (ESS) and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
