DESCRIPTION



· The MC34673 is a fully-integrated, cost-effective battery charger designed for single-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer batteries.

· It supports a high input voltage up to 28V, eliminating the need for an external over-voltage protection circuit in portable devices.

· The charger features a typical charge cycle including trickle, constant-current (CC), and constant-voltage (CV) modes.

· The CC-mode current is programmable up to 1.2A using an external resistor, and the CV-mode voltage is fixed at 4.2V with 0.7% accuracy.

· It includes a charge current thermal foldback feature and input over-voltage protection (OVP) for system safety.

· The device has a 2.6V falling power-on-reset (POR) threshold, making it compatible with current-limited power supplies.

· It offers three indication pins (PPR, CHG, FAST) for interfacing with microprocessors or LEDs.

· When disabled or without a power supply, the charger draws less than 1.0µA leakage current from the battery.

· Programmable CC-mode current up to 1.2A with guaranteed maximum.

· Voltage accuracy of ±0.7% over a temperature range of -20°C to 70°C.

· Current accuracy of ±6% over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

· Maximum input voltage of 28V with 6.8V over-voltage protection threshold.

· Minimum input operating voltage of 2.6V.

· Trickle charge mode for fully discharged batteries.

· Charge current monitor and thermal foldback feature.

· Pb-free packaging designated by suffix code EP.
