DESCRIPTION

· The MCP98242 is a digital temperature sensor with an integrated 256 Byte EEPROM, designed for DIMM temperature-sensing applications.

· It converts temperature from -40°C to +125°C to a digital word, meeting JEDEC Specification JC42.4.

· The device features user-programmable registers for flexible settings, including Shutdown or Low-Power modes and temperature event boundaries.

· The EEPROM is tailored for DRAM DIMMs Serial Presence Detect (SPD), with the lower 128 bytes being write-protectable.

· It operates via a 2-wire I2C/SMBus compatible serial interface, supporting up to eight devices on a single bus.

FEATURES

· Temperature Sensor with ±0.5°C/±1°C accuracy from +75°C to +95°C.

· Integrated 256 Byte EEPROM for SPD, with permanent and reversible software write-protect options.

· Optimized for a voltage range of 3.0V to 3.6V, with a shutdown/standby current of 3 µA (max).
