DESCRIPTION



· The MCP98242 by Microchip Technology Inc. is a digital temperature sensor with a 256 Byte EEPROM, designed for temperature monitoring and data storage in DIMM modules.

· It converts temperatures from -40°C to +125°C into a digital format, adhering to the JEDEC JC42.4 specification for mobile platform memory modules.

· Features include programmable registers for temperature event and critical output boundaries, and an Event signal output that can be configured for various operational modes.

· The EEPROM is tailored for DRAM DIMMs Serial Presence Detect (SPD), with the lower 128 bytes offering permanent or reversible write protection for storing vendor and product information.



FEATURES



· Integrated temperature sensor and 256 Byte EEPROM optimized for a voltage range of 3.0V to 3.6V.

· Low shutdown/standby current of 3 µA (max) and operating current of 200 µA (typ) for the temperature sensor.

· High accuracy: ±0.5°C/±1°C (typ/max) from +75°C to +95°C, ±1°C/±2°C from +40°C to +125°C, and ±2°C/±3°C from -20°C to +125°C.

· I²C/SMBus compatible 2-wire interface supporting up to eight devices on a single bus.

· Available in DFN-8, TDFN-8, UDFN-8, and TSSOP-8 packages, including an exposed thermal pad for enhanced thermal performance.
