DESCRIPTION

· The MCP98242 is a digital temperature sensor with an integrated 256 Byte EEPROM, designed for DIMM temperature-sensing applications.

· It converts temperature from -40°C to +125°C to a digital word, meeting JEDEC Specification JC42.4.

· The sensor offers user-programmable registers for flexible settings, including Shutdown or Low-Power modes, and temperature event boundaries.

· The EEPROM is tailored for DRAM DIMMs Serial Presence Detect (SPD), with write-protection options for the lower 128 bytes.

FEATURES

· Temperature Sensor: ±0.5°C/±1°C accuracy (typ./max.) from +75°C to +95°C, 200 µA operating current.

· EEPROM: 256 Bytes, 1.1 mA write current (typical) for 3.5 ms, 100 µA read current (typical).

· Interface: 2-wire I2C/SMBus compatible, supports up to eight devices on a single bus.

· Power: Optimized for 3.0V to 3.6V, 3 µA shutdown/standby current (maximum).
