Overview

DESCRIPTION



· Microchip's MCP9843/98243 digital temperature sensors convert -40°C to +125°C to a digital word.

· Meets JEDEC specifications JC42.4-TSE3000B3 and JC42.4-TSE2002B3 for memory module thermal sensors.

· MCP98243 includes a 256 Byte EEPROM for storing memory module and vendor information.

· Features user-programmable registers for DIMM temperature-sensing applications.

· Outputs an Alert signal when temperature exceeds specified Event boundaries.

· Supports active-low or active-high comparator output for thermostat operation or temperature Event interrupt output for microprocessor-based systems.

· Lower 128 Bytes of EEPROM can be Permanent Write Protected or Software Reversible Write Protected.

· Upper 128 bytes are available for general-purpose data storage.

· Utilizes a 2-wire I2C compatible serial interface, allowing control of up to eight devices on a single serial bus.

· Temperature-to-Digital Converter with high accuracy.

· Sensor Accuracy (Grade B): ±0.2°C/±1°C (typ./max.) from +75°C to +95°C, ±0.5°C/±2°C (typ./max.) from +40°C to +125°C, ±1°C/±3°C (typ./max.) from -20°C to +125°C.

· Specified VDD Range: 3.0V to 3.6V for temperature sensor, 1.8V to 5.5V for EEPROM.

· Operating Current: 200 µA (typical) for temperature sensor, 1.1 mA (typical) for write and 100 µA (typical) for read in EEPROM.

· Available in DFN-8, TDFN-8, UDFN-8, TSSOP-8 packages.

· Includes Exposed Thermal Pad (EP) for enhanced thermal performance.
