DESCRIPTION
· The PCA8886 is a low-power dual-channel capacitive proximity switch utilizing a patented digital method for detecting capacitance changes on remote sensing plates. It features continuous auto-calibration for static capacitance changes and supports direct or remote connection of sensing plates via coaxial cable.
FEATURES
· Dynamic proximity switch with digital processing and automatic calibration.
· Adjustable sensitivity and response time, with a wide input capacitance range of 10 pF to 60 pF.
· Supports large distances between sensing plate and IC, with open-drain output configurable as push-button, toggle, or pulse.
· Operates over a wide voltage range (3 V to 9 V) and is suitable for battery-powered applications with low current consumption (6 µA typical).
· Functions across a broad temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) and is AEC-Q100 compliant for automotive use.
· Available in TSSOP16 package.
APPLICATIONS
· Proximity detection and sensing in door locks, grips, portable entertainment units, and computing tablets.
· Switch for medical applications and dashboard controls, such as menu toggling and trip counter resetting.
