DESCRIPTION
· UM3221E/UM3222E/UM3232E are 3.3V powered RS-232 transceivers for portable applications.
· UM3221E has one driver/receiver; UM3222E/UM3232E have two drivers/receivers.
· Features low power, high data-rate, and enhanced ESD protection.
· ESD protection: ±15kV (human body/air discharge), ±8kV (contact discharge).
· Logic I/O pins protected to ±2kV.
· Compatible with 3.3V, mixed 1.8V/3.3V, mixed 3.3V/5.0V, and 5.0V systems.
· UM3221E/UM3222E have low-power shutdown mode with <1μA supply current.
· Receivers remain active in shutdown mode.
· Pin, package, and functionally compatible with MAX242 and MAX232.
FEATURES
· Meets EIA/TIA-232-F standards from +3.0V to +5.5V.
· Meets EIA/TIA-562 levels of ±3.7V with supply voltages as low as 2.7V.
· Enhanced ESD: ±15kV (human body/air discharge), ±8kV (contact discharge).
· 1μA low power shutdown (UM3221E/UM3222E).
· Minimum transmission rate: 250kbps.
· Max slew rate: 30V/μs.
· Latch-up performance exceeds 200mA.
· Hot swap and fail-safe.
