DESCRIPTION

· The UM3243 series are 3-driver/5-receiver RS-232 transceivers operating from 3V to 5.5V.

· Features Auto Power-Off to save power when no valid RS-232 signal is detected.

· Includes a regulated discontinuous mode dual charge pump power supply and low-dropout transmitters.

· Guarantees a data rate of 250kbps and requires only four 0.1 μF capacitors for 3.3V operation.

· Suitable for 3.3V-only, mixed 3.3V and 5.0V, or 5.0V-only systems requiring true RS-232 performance.

· Includes an always-active receiver and INVALID output for monitoring external devices and indicating valid RS-232 signals.

· Enhanced ESD protection with ±15kV for human body mode and ±8kV for IEC61000-4-2 contact discharge mode.

· Complies with EIA/TIA-232-F and EIA/TIA-562 standards.
