Overview

DESCRIPTION



· The AD8155 is an asynchronous, protocol-agnostic, dual-lane 2:1 switch with six differential CML inputs and outputs.

· Supports NRZ signaling up to 6.5 Gbps per lane with programmable receive equalization and output preemphasis.

· Features a nonblocking switch core implementing a 2:1 multiplexer and 1:2 demultiplexer per lane.

· Offers low latency, low lane-to-lane skew, and supports independent lane switching via SEL[1:0] pins.

· Controlled through external toggle pins or on-chip control registers via I2C interface.



FEATURES



· Dual 2:1 mux/1:2 demux optimized for dc to 6.5 Gbps NRZ data.

· Programmable input equalization compensates up to 40 inches of FR4.

· Programmable output preemphasis up to 12 dB and output levels with squelch and disable.

· Accepts ac-coupled or dc-coupled differential CML inputs with 50 Ω on-chip termination.

· Supports unicast or bicast operation, port-level loopback, and single lane switching.

· Flexible core supply from 1.8 V to 3.3 V, user-settable I/O supply from VCC to 1.2 V.

· Low power consumption, typically 2.0 W in basic configuration.

· 64-lead LFCSP package with operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.



APPLICATIONS



· Low-cost redundancy switch for SONET OC48/SDH16 and lower data rates.

· Suitable for RXAUI, 4× Fibre Channel, Infiniband, and GbE over backplane.

· Supports OIF CEI 6.25 Gbps over backplane and serial data-level shift.

· Ideal for 2-/4-/6-lane equalizers or redrivers.

· Used in port-monitoring applications to maintain link connectivity while duplicating data for testing.
