DESCRIPTION

· The FT245BL is a lead-free, second-generation USB FIFO IC from FTDI, offering enhanced functionality and reduced external components compared to its predecessor, the FT8U245AM.

· It maintains high pin compatibility with the original, facilitating easy upgrades and cost reductions in existing designs, while also expanding its use in new applications.

FEATURES

· Single-chip USB to parallel FIFO bi-directional data transfer with rates up to 1M Byte/sec (D2XX Drivers) and 300 Kilobyte/sec (VCP Drivers).

· Simple 4-wire handshake interface for MCU/PLD/FPGA logic integration; no USB-specific firmware required.

· Includes FTDI’s royalty-free VCP and D2XX drivers, reducing the need for USB driver development.

· Features a 384 Byte FIFO Tx buffer and a 128 Byte FIFO Rx buffer for high data throughput.

· Supports USB Suspend/Resume, high power USB bus powered devices, and includes an adjustable RX buffer timeout.

· Integrated level converter for 5V and 3.3V logic, 3.3V regulator for USB IO, Power-On-Reset circuit, and 6MHz – 48MHz clock multiplier PLL.

· Operates on a single supply from 4.35V to 5.25V; compatible with UHCI/OHCI/EHCI host controllers and USB 1.1/2.0.

· Programmable EEPROM onboard via USB for USB VID, PID, Serial Number, and Product Description strings.

· Available in a compact, lead-free, RoHS compliant 32-LD LQFP package.
