Overview

DESCRIPTION

· The HCF4046B is a monolithic integrated circuit fabricated in Metal Oxide Semiconductor Technology, available in 16-lead dual in-line plastic or ceramic package.

· It features a low-power, linear voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and two different phase comparators with a common signal-input amplifier and comparator input.

· Includes a 5.2V zener diode for supply regulation if necessary.



FEATURES

· Quiescent current specified up to 20V.

· Very low power consumption: 70 µW (typ.) at VCO fo = 10kHz, VDD = 5V.

· Operating frequency range: up to 1.4MHz (typ.) at VDD = 10V.

· Low frequency drift: 0.04%/°C (typ.) at VDD = 10V.

· Choice of two phase comparators: exclusive-OR network and edge-controlled memory network with phase-pulse output for lock indication.

· High VCO linearity: <1% (typ.).

· VCO inhibit control for on-off keying and ultra-low standby power consumption.

· Source-follower output of VCO control input (demod. output).

· Input leakage current II = 100nA (max) at VDD = 18V, TA = 25°C.

· 100% tested for quiescent current.

· Meets all requirements of JEDEC JESD13B "Standard Specifications for Description of B Series CMOS Devices".



APPLICATIONS

· Suitable for applications requiring low power consumption and precise frequency control.

· Ideal for use in phase-locked loop systems, frequency modulation, and demodulation circuits.

· Can be used in on-off keying and standby power management systems.
