DESCRIPTION

· The DS1231 Power Monitor Chip ensures an orderly shutdown and automatic restart of processor-based systems using a precise temperature-compensated reference circuit.

· It monitors high voltage inputs to power supply regulators, generating a warning signal before DC voltages go out of specification.

· The chip halts the processor unconditionally just before the power supply's hold-up time is exhausted, preventing spurious cycles.

· Upon power restoration, it holds the processor inactive until power conditions stabilize, safeguarding nonvolatile memory from inadvertent data changes.
