DESCRIPTION

· The MC100EP40 is a three-state phase-frequency detector designed for phase-locked loop applications, minimizing phase and frequency differences at lock.

· It operates with a 3.3V/5V power supply and requires input edge rates of less than 5 ns for proper functioning.

· The device features differential UP and DOWN outputs that generate pulse streams to control a VCO, and a Phase Lock Detect pin that indicates lock with a high state when phase difference is 80 ps or less.

· It includes an internal termination network for 50 Ω line impedance and a VBB pin for single-ended input conditions.

FEATURES

· Maximum frequency exceeds 2 GHz.

· Fully differential with advanced high band output swing of 400 mV.

· Theoretical gain of 1.11 with typical rise time of 97 ps and fall time of 70 ps.

· Temperature compensation in the 100 series.

· PECL mode operates from 3.0V to 5.5V; NECL mode operates from -3.0V to -5.5V.

· Includes 50 Ω internal termination resistor and is Pb-Free.
