Overview

DESCRIPTION

· The MCP41XXX and MCP42XXX are 256-position digital potentiometers with resistance values of 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, and 100 kΩ.

· MCP41XXX is a single-channel device in an 8-pin PDIP or SOIC package, while MCP42XXX is a dual-channel device in a 14-pin PDIP, SOIC, or TSSOP package.

· The wiper position is controlled via an SPI interface, with a software shutdown feature that disconnects the "A" terminal and connects the wiper to the "B" terminal.

· MCP42XXX includes a SHDN pin for hardware shutdown and supports daisy-chaining of multiple devices.

· The wiper resets to mid-scale (80h) on power-up or via the RS pin.

· Operates on a single 2.7V - 5.5V supply and is specified for industrial (-40°C to +85°C) and extended (-40°C to +125°C) temperature ranges.
