DESCRIPTION
· The PCF8553 is an ultra low-power LCD segment driver featuring 4 backplane and 40 segment driver outputs, compatible with I2C or SPI-bus interfaces. It includes an internal oscillator, bias generation, instruction decoding, and display controller.

· Single chip LCD controller and driver with a temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C.
· Configurable backplane drive: static, 2, 3, or 4 backplane multiplexing.
· Configurable display bias: static, 1⁄2, or 1⁄3.
· Internal LCD bias generation with buffers.
· Supports up to 20 7-segment numeric characters or 10 14-segment alphanumeric characters.
· Auto-incrementing display data and instruction loading.
· Versatile blinking modes.
· Independent V LCD and V DD supplies ranging from 1.8 V to 5.5 V.
· Ultra low-power consumption.
· 400 kHz I2C-bus and 5 MHz SPI-bus interfaces.
· Internally generated or externally supplied clock signal.
