DESCRIPTION

· The ExpressLane™ PEX 8508 is a flexible and versatile PCI Express switch designed for scalable high-bandwidth, non-blocking interconnections.

· It supports up to five configurable ports and eight lanes, allowing for symmetric or asymmetric port configurations.

· The switch is suitable for a wide range of applications, including intelligent network interface cards, servers, storage systems, and embedded-control products.

· Compliant with PCI Express Base Specification r1.1 and Standard SHPC Specification r1.1.

· Non-blocking internal architecture with full line rate on all ports and cut-thru latency of 150ns.

· Supports Non-Transparent Bridging for multi-host systems and intelligent I/O modules.

· Flexible port configurations with lane and polarity reversal, configurable via strapping pins, EEPROM, I2C, or host software.

· PCI Express Power Management with support for Link power management states and device states.

· Quality of Service (QoS) with two Virtual Channels per port and eight Traffic Classes per port.

· Reliability features include end-to-end CRC protection, Poison bit support, and advanced error reporting.

· Low power capability with granular SerDes control, supporting Vaux, WAKE#, and Beacon for D3cold operation.
