DESCRIPTION

· The 82C50A is a high-performance CMOS Asynchronous Communication Element (ACE) integrating a UART and Baud Rate Generator (BRG) on a single chip.
· Supports data rates from DC to 625K baud (0-10MHz clock) using Intersil's Scaled SAJI IV CMOS Process.
· Features programmable word length (5-8 bits) and stop bit selection (1, 1.5, or 2 bits).
· Includes a Baud Rate Generator with a programmable divisor (1 to 65535) for standard RS-232C baud rates.
· Provides modem control signals (RTS, CTS, DSR, DTR, RI, DCD) for CPU interfacing.
· Designed with full TTL/CMOS compatibility for mixed system design.
