DESCRIPTION

· The ISL8488E, ISL8489E, ISL8490E, ISL8491E are BiCMOS, 5V powered, single transceivers meeting RS-485 and RS-422 standards.

· Each driver output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV ESD strikes, with no latch-up.

· These devices are configured for full duplex applications, ideal for RS-422 networks requiring high ESD tolerance.

· The ISL8488E and ISL8490E are 8-pin versions without Rx and Tx output enables, while ISL8489E and ISL8491E include these features in a 14-pin configuration.

· The ISL8488E and ISL8489E feature slew rate limited drivers to reduce EMI and minimize reflections, while ISL8490E and ISL8491E support data rates up to 10Mbps.

· These devices present a "single unit load" to the RS-485 bus, allowing up to 32 transmitters and receivers on the network.
