DESCRIPTION

· The ISL8485, ISL8490, and ISL8491 are 5V powered, BiCMOS RS-485/RS-422 transceivers compliant with both standards.

· Designed for balanced communication, these devices support a 10% tolerance supply range from 4.5V to 5.5V.

· Capable of data rates up to 5Mbps, they present a single unit load on the RS-485 bus, supporting up to 32 transceivers.

· Features include fail-safe receiver inputs, short-circuit protected driver outputs, and thermal shutdown circuitry.

· The ISL8490 and ISL8491 support full duplex operation, while the ISL8485 is configured for half duplex.
