DESCRIPTION

· The MCP45XX and MCP46XX devices provide a versatile range of digital potentiometers and rheostats with an I2C interface.

· These devices support 7-bit and 8-bit resistor networks, nonvolatile memory configurations, and both potentiometer and rheostat pinouts.

· WiperLock Technology ensures application-specific calibration settings are securely stored in EEPROM.

FEATURES

· Single or dual resistor network options with potentiometer or rheostat configurations.

· Resistor network resolution: 7-bit (128 resistors, 129 steps) and 8-bit (256 resistors, 257 steps).

· RAB resistance options: 5 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 50 kΩ, 100 kΩ.

· Low wiper resistance: 75 Ω (typical).

· Low temperature coefficient: 50 ppm (rheostat), 15 ppm (potentiometer).

· Nonvolatile memory with automatic recall of saved wiper settings and 10 general-purpose memory locations.

· I2C serial interface supports 100 kHz, 400 kHz, and 3.4 MHz.

· Write protect feature with hardware and software control.

· Brown-out reset protection (1.5V typical).

· Wide operating voltage: 2.7V to 5.5V.

· Extended temperature range: -40°C to +125°C.
