DESCRIPTION

· The TCA7408 is an 8-bit I/O expander for the I2C bus, designed for general-purpose remote I/O expansion.

· It operates with a wide VCC range: 1.65V to 3.6V on the GPIO-port side and 1.65V to 5.5V on the SDA/SCL side.

· Features bidirectional voltage-level translation through VCCI, which should be connected to the VCC of external SCL/SDA lines.

· At power on, I/Os are configured as inputs but can be set as inputs or outputs by the system master.



FEATURES

· Operating power-supply voltage range from 1.65V to 3.6V.

· Standby current consumption of less than 2µA at 1.8V.

· Includes internal power-on-reset, watchdog timer, and noise filter on SCL/SDA and inputs.

· Programmable pull-up/pull-down resistors and edge detection for GPIO inputs.

· ESD protection exceeds JESD 22 standards.
