DESCRIPTION

· The 74HC163-Q100 and 74HCT163-Q100 are synchronous presettable 4-bit binary counters with an internal look-ahead carry.

· Synchronous operation is achieved by clocking all flip-flops simultaneously on the positive edge of the clock (CP).

· Outputs (Q0 to Q3) can be preset to HIGH or LOW states.

· A LOW at the parallel enable input (PE) disables counting and loads data inputs (D0 to D3) into the counter on the clock's positive edge.

· A LOW at the master reset input (MR) resets Q0 to Q3 to LOW on the next clock positive transition, regardless of other input levels.

· The look-ahead carry feature simplifies serial cascading of counters.

· Both count enable inputs (CEP and CET) must be HIGH for counting to occur.
