DESCRIPTION

· The LP8551 is a high-efficiency white LED driver with an integrated boost converter, designed for notebook and tablet LCD display backlighting.
· It features four adjustable current sinks controlled via PWM input or I2C-compatible serial interface, with adaptive output voltage control to minimize power consumption.
· The device supports an input voltage range of 2.7-V to 22-V, suitable for 1x to 5x cell Li-Ion batteries.
· It includes safety features for detecting LED faults and conditions like low input voltage and overcurrent, with thermal de-rating to prevent overheating.



FEATURES

· High-Voltage DC/DC Boost Converter with Integrated FET and four switching frequency options (156/312/625/1250 kHz).
· Four LED outputs with 8-bit current resolution and up to 13-bit PWM resolution for precise brightness control.
· Programmable PWM resolution and phase shift PWM control to reduce peak current and eliminate audible noise.
· Internal EEPROM for configuration data storage, minimizing external component count.
· Comprehensive fault detection including LED short/open, low input voltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature conditions.
